Go to J.Sargent ReynoldsFeb 05 2014Finance
Go to J.Sargent Reynolds. Earn an Associates Degree and then you are guaranteed to get in as a Junior. This is a much easier path and you will then have two degrees when you are done, both an Associates and a Bachelors as I currently have. Not to mention it is WAYY CHEAPER that way!! Seriously I may totally of hated my time at VCU but J.Sargent Reynolds was actually a pretty good school and it only costs about 1k a semster verses 5k at VCU a semester.

Don't go hereSep 30 2013Chemical Engineering
Don't go here. Please. If you are able go to community, Richmond has great CCs! The community colleges around here offer BETTER instruction, for half the price. Oh an you can actually park!
With an Associates you can transfer to any number of Virginia schools, guaranteed.

VCU is not famous by accepting only the brightAug 31 2013History/Histories (art history/etc.)
VCU is not famous by accepting only the bright and best. The main goal of the school is to be an active part of a community and is now the main school in the Richmond/Central VA area.
So your grades might not be a real factor here, but your experience - like volunteering and working in the community, or having a great artistic portfolio - will make a huge difference.

My SATMar 29 2013Communications
My SAT scores were solid, my GPA was solid, and I made sure to stick with a club all 4 years of high school so that colleges saw that I could commit to something. Applying early and writhing good essays also helps. All in all- being well rounded and solid is important rather than being a genius in one area.

In order to get accepted to a reputable universityMar 06 2012Language - French/Spanish/etc.
In order to get accepted to a reputable university and also satisfy my passions and interests, during my high school years, I worked hard earning As and Bs, was involved in sports year round and extra curricular activities, and also took on two foreign languages for all four years (as I knew those subjects would be my specialties in college).

For students aiming to be accepted to VCU, I would recommend taking advantage of your high school's resources as much as possible. Take opportunities to learn about as many subjects as you are capable without stretching yourself too thin. Notice what subjects you tend to excel in, what subjects you are passionate about, and EXPLORE them. Test the waters while you are in high school. By the time your junior year rolls around, I would determine which subjects I would consider studying in college, and try to strengthen my skills and knowledge in those subjects. Finally, work hard, aim for greatness, and do your best to receive good grades BUT do not lose sight of what is truly important to you.
